Ghost Dogs

Ghost Dog

On October 1st, 2017, Las Vegas, the city where I have lived and called home for the past 20 years, had one of the worst cases of #massshootings in the world. It claimed the lives of 60 people, which included two who later died of their injuries. That cataclysmic event caused much heartache and 411 people still carry with them injuries they will have for the rest of their lives.

As a sometimes Johnny Cash tribute singer I wondered how #JohnnyCash might have responded by song to horrific events such as these. Out of this thought, coupled with my own soul searching, the song emerged, “Ghost Dogs a Call to Arms”. It came to me like an ancient war cry that one is compelled to sing when circumstances demand it to rise up from some place deep inside, some place spiritual and ancient.

To me this song speaks to those people, not unlike the #nobleknights of old, who have developed skills and have often served in organizations like the #SpecialForces. It asks people like these to be on the lookout for people who are contemplating or getting ready to commit acts of violence. It’s not asking them to rally into groups or join militia organizations. It speaks to them as individual citizens to be on the alert as they go about the business of their normal daily lives.
If you are like me, you have probably felt helpless about how to prevent terrible things like this from happening. It’s not enough for me to do nothing or just be passively sympathetic.

So I wrote this song from my heart in an effort to resurrect the knights of old if only to draw attention to the existence of these noble protectors of the human race. And, who knows, just maybe this will help save someone’s life! If that individual who is contemplating committing a horrific act realizes that there are still noble knights out there, unidentifiable in a crowd. Maybe just knowing this will be the one thing that gives them pause.

I also realized that it would take more than just a song to get this kind of message out. That’s when I thought of creating some kind of a symbol for these noble spirits which I also saw as a way of awakening them to the need that we all have for modern-day knights in our lives. So this is the meaning of the symbol you see on this page.

If you would like to help perpetuate this message as I have described it here, follow the link to an online outlet where you can get a variety of things to wear with the Ghost Dogs Symbol in your choice of 4 different languages, English, Spanish, French or German. Just maybe together we can make a difference. Even if our efforts only saved one life, wouldn’t it be worth it!?!
